Ana earned her nursing degree from Union Memorial
Hospital in Baltimore in 1979 and practiced in various clinical
settings for 20 years before relocating to Taos in 1992. She is
a graduate of Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe and has
been in private practice since 1996. Ana's passionate search for
wellness through holistic healing inspired her to study a wide variety
of natural therapeutics including many forms of bodywork, breathwork,
nutritional and herbal remedies, and psycho-spiritual counseling.
Cornerstone of acupuncture practice is identifying
and addressing energetic patterns of imbalance from the physical
to the spiritual, according to Zang-Fu and Six Divisions diagnosis.
Treatment is based on a sound understanding of both holistic and
Western medical practices.
In addition to acupuncture, strong emphasis is placed on nutritional
and lifestyle counseling. This includes macrobiotic, food-combining,
blood-type and Chinese dietary principles. Chinese herbs and other
nutritional supplements are recommended as appropriate.
Professional development in alternative healing arts includes formal
study of a wide range of bodywork therapies at the Potomac Myotherapy
Institute. These included Swedish and Deep Tissue massage, Shiatsu,
Polarity Therapy, Reiki, and Zero Balancing.
Additional studies include Tai Chi, Iyengar Yoga and oriental dance.
A balanced regime of aerobic and internal movement practices is
recommended for clients, also when appropriate.
